The Norröna is a passenger and cargo ferry run by Smyril Line and the only ship operating passenger journeys from the port of Seydisfjordur. The company offers sailings to the Shetland Islands, the Faroe Islands, Norway and Denmark.


Seydisfjordur is a stunning town boasting impressive sights. It has a breathtaking stretch of coastline and picturesque 19th century houses can be found across the town. The town is one of the most beautiful places in Iceland.

The Port in eastern Iceland offers several passenger services, including public telephones and lavatories and shops.

Ferry Services


Smyril Line is the only ferry company operating from the port of Seydisfjordur. It offers sailings to Bergen in Norway, Lerwick on the Shetland Islands, Hanstholm in Denmark and Tórshavn on the Faroe Islands.

The new Norröna is a modern vessel serving Seydisfjordur. The large ferry provides luxurious cabins, numerous shops, excellent restaurants, pubs, dancing facilities, play areas for children, a swimming-pool, an exercise and leisure room and a number of additional facilities. The vessel can accommodate 1,482 passengers and has a capacity for 800 vehicles.

The ferry has specially adapted facilities for disabled passengers including wheelchair accessibility and adapted toilets. If you require assistance with boarding, you need to notify Smyril Line prior to arrival.
